A Snapshot of Reading Time in the Stormcave

Episode 12

Today on the podcast, Grant and I get to chat with a special guest, Evan (our brother) about what family read-aloud time looks like in each of our homes and how it differs from how we pictured it, as well as how it differs from how we remember it growing up ourselves.

If you tune in on Youtube, you also get to watch Evan fold his laundry.

We had a lot of fun reminiscing about our childhood and some of our memories of being read to, and we compare it to how that translated into our own homes with our own kids.

We also chat a bit about why we read out loud to our kids. I give an extremely overcomplicated answer, but the real answer is… I love reading and I wanted to share my favorite stories with my favorite people.

Tune in and let us know… what does reading out loud look like in YOUR house? Were you read to as a child? Do you have children of your own? Do you enjoy reading to them? Does it look the way you pictured it in your head, or have you had to adjust your expectations?

I know I definitely had to adjust my expectations, but I also know that it has been worth it to find the rhythm that works. Reading out loud to my kids continues to be one of my greatest joys in life.
